Privacy Policy

Last updated: September 3, 2026

We do not share your information.

Your privacy is the whole point. In the Wild never sells, rents, or shares your personal information with third parties for marketing — period. This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and the steps we take to keep it yours.

In the Wild ("we", "us", or "our") operates the In the Wild mobile and web application (the "Service"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use the Service. By creating an account, you agree to the practices described here.

1. Information We Collect

  • •Account information: your email address and a display name of your choosing.
  • •Profile information: date of birth (to verify you are 21+), gender, orientation, interests, bio, and photos you choose to upload.
  • •Location information: your city and state, and — only when you opt in — your approximate location to power map discovery. We never track your exact coordinates without your explicit permission.
  • •Usage information: how you interact with the app, such as check-ins, likes, passes, and messages, so we can provide and improve the service.
  • •Billing information: handled entirely by our payment processor (CCBill/Stripe). We never store your full card number on our servers.

2. How We Use Your Information

  • •To create and maintain your account and profile.
  • •To show you nearby people and venues on the map and in discovery.
  • •To facilitate matches, messages, and WildCard QR connections.
  • •To send service notifications (likes, messages, venue arrivals) and — only if you opt in — marketing emails about products and services.
  • •To operate safely, prevent abuse, and comply with legal obligations.

3. How We Do NOT Share Your Information

  • •We do not sell your personal information. Ever.
  • •We do not rent, trade, or barter your data with anyone.
  • •We do not share your personal information with third parties for their marketing purposes.
  • •We do not share your private messages, photos, or location with other users except where you explicitly choose to (for example, sending a message or showing an album).
  • •The only limited sharing we do is with service providers who help us run the app (such as our payment processor and email delivery), under strict contracts that limit them to using your data only to provide that service to us — and nothing more.

4. Location Privacy

  • •Your exact location is never shown to other users. The map displays approximate, "fuzzy" bubbles so you can see who's nearby without exposing where you actually are.
  • •Location sharing is always opt-in and can be turned off at any time in Settings.

5. Data Retention

  • •We keep your profile and activity data for as long as your account is active.
  • •You can delete your account at any time from Settings, which removes your profile and personal information from our active systems.

6. Your Rights

  • •You can view and edit your profile information at any time.
  • •You can control which notifications and marketing emails you receive from your Settings.
  • •You can delete your account and request removal of your personal data.

7. Security

  • •We use industry-standard safeguards to protect your information. No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, but we work hard to protect your data using encryption and access controls.

8. Age Requirement

  • •In the Wild is for adults only. You must be 21 or older to create an account. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 21.

9. Changes to This Policy

  • •We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by email or in-app notice. Continued use after changes takes effect constitutes acceptance.

10. Contact Us

  • •Questions about your privacy? Reach out anytime from the Contact Staff page inside the app, or email us at support@in-the-wild.app.
